Smart irrigation for holiday homes on the Costa Blanca
A garden that is only visited a few times a year needs watering that works on its own. App control and soil moisture sensing make that possible.

Many gardens on the Costa Blanca belong to owners who spend part of the year elsewhere. Summer heat and wind can dry out a garden in days, while overwatering wastes water and harms plants. A smart irrigation system lets you follow and adjust watering from your phone, wherever you are.
How smart irrigation works
A smart system combines a controller connected to the internet, valves for each watering zone and, ideally, soil moisture sensors. Instead of watering on a fixed timer, the system can water when the soil actually needs it. You can see what is happening in an app and change schedules remotely.
Zones, not one schedule
Lawns, shrubs, trees, pots and vegetable beds need different amounts of water. Dividing the garden into zones, each with suitable drip lines or sprinklers, is the basis of efficient irrigation.
Drip or sprinklers?
Drip irrigation delivers water at the roots with little evaporation and suits beds, hedges and trees. Sprinklers suit lawns. Most gardens use a combination.
Water use and local rules
Water is a valuable resource on the Costa Blanca, and municipalities may restrict garden watering during dry periods. Watering according to soil moisture, at the right time of day, helps you use less water and adapt to restrictions.
When you are not there
The main benefit for holiday homes is control from a distance. If a pipe is damaged or a valve fails, you can notice unusual behaviour and arrange help. Optional support and maintenance agreements mean someone can check the system on site.
Plan irrigation with the garden
Irrigation is easiest to install when the garden is being designed or renovated. Combine it with garden design and outdoor lighting, or include it in a larger outdoor living project.
Before you install
- Which areas of the garden need water, and how much?
- Is there a reliable internet connection at the property?
- Where is the water supply, and what pressure is available?
- Who will check the system on site if needed?

Your questions.
Can I control my garden irrigation from my phone?
Yes. A smart controller connected to the internet lets you follow and change watering in an app.
What is the difference between drip irrigation and sprinklers?
Drip irrigation delivers water to the roots with little evaporation and suits beds and trees; sprinklers suit lawns.
Does smart irrigation save water?
Watering according to soil moisture and at the right time of day helps use less water and adapt to local restrictions.
